Learning Challenge: Reading out Loud
For this week's learning challenge, I used the read out loud option, and here are my thoughts on the subjects, as per the notes I took
- Personally, I think it slows me down too much in my reading, and actually lowers my comprehension of the text, because I tended to not remember previous information because too much time passed between when I first read it and when I recalled it
- It also lead to me being distracted more easily, because I needed to keep my train of thought as well as speech working together, so instead of becoming immersed in my head, I ended up staying too much in the real world, meaning that events in the real world threw off my focus.
- It did enable me to look at form more easily, and think of how I would write stuff in order to make it more enjoyable for a reader.

Hi John-Paul!
ReplyDeleteI am still playing around with reading aloud. I, too, feel as though it slows me down a lot. It's something I would like to improve on as I am interested in teaching someday and feel as though this is a great skill to have overall. For some reason, when I read aloud, I tend to skip lines and such much more than when I read silently.
Thank you for sharing! I am definitely going to check this out.
