My Favorite Place: Munich, Germany

As someone descended from a proud German family, I have always felt a strong connection to the Vaterland (Fatherland), in particular to the city my family is from, Munich.  Below are two of my favorite places in Munich, destinations that are must sees on any trip to the capital of Bavaria.

Allianz Arena: My favorite place in Munich is the Allianz Arena, home of FC Bayern Munich, German superpower soccer club and 5 time European Champions

In addition to hosting FC Bayern matches, the arena hosts the German national soccer team, Der Mannschaft.  My goal is to someday travel to Munich in order to watch a Champions League knockout tie at the arena.  

Marienplatz (Mary's Square): This is the central square of Munich, and the host to one of the most famous Christmas Markets in the world.  The central square is famous for the old and new town halls walling it in, creating a striking Gothic image

This city square is home to some of the best beer halls in Germany, and definitely a place I am interested in sightseeing as well as getting a taste of the local food and drink.

    How great to have a family connection to Munich, John-Paul! Excellent! I used to live in Poland, and I also traveled around to different cities in Germany, and Munich was one of the most fun and also most beautiful.

    Wow sounds very nice that you have been to Germany! I only stopped by Germany for a couples of hours and I was very disappointed that I couldn't look around. One of my bucket list is to visit Europe and drive on autobahn! If I ever end up visiting Germany, I will definitely check out the Allianz arena and Marys Square!

Week 10 Story: Into the Arena

"Arjuna! Arjuna! Arjuna!" the chants from the crowd resounding throughout the arena.  Arjuna smiled slightly, then loosed another flurry of arrows, dropping all the targets released.  During each shot, the only thing he remembered was his trainer Drona's advice, "See only the head, not the body."  Eager to show even greater prowess, he hopped on his horse and galloped throughout the arena, hitting target after target without fail, prompting even more cheers from the crowd.  Finally, the time came for the greatest exhibition, and an iron boar was loosed into the arena.  To any witness, the next five arrows that Arjuna released were faster than the wind itself, and all hit the boar straight in the mouth, as if they were but a single arrow.  The boar dropped dead, and the arena rang with the mightiest cheers anyone present had ever heard.
